La Ventana Friends

Our first trip to Baja, nearly 13 years ago, marked the beginning of our friendship with a couple calling Hood River/Mosier, Oregon their summer home.  Everytime we come down here, they share their beautiful home and rich experiences with us.  We spent only a few days with them this trip, awaking every morning to this lovely view:

La Ventana attracts quite a few Hood RiverMosier residents, wind sports being the common draw.  Here in La Ventana, world class wind, wing and kite surfers come to train, practice and compete in their unusual sports.  When a quiet day spent on the beach turned into a "breezy" day with full wind sports examples, I regretted not taking my camera.  In this place, people welcome Livingston-style winds, using kites and wings to propel their bodies across the top of the water and beyond.  Yes, some of the more highly skilled surfers actually get launched into the air above the sea!  Here's a photo from the internet used to illustrate kite surfing:

And on a more personal note, a professional photographer captured this photo of our host on his kite board while we were there:

Yes, his neglect to take his hat that day has been noted and remarked upon.  But he still puts to shame any other 60-something-year-old we know!
